Pre-Brief.

A one-page recap, the morning of every meeting: what was said last time, what was promised, what changed, what to ask.

The 9:55 AM scramble.

You have a 10:00 with someone you spoke to three weeks ago. You can't quite remember what was decided. You search your inbox, you skim the calendar invite, you flip through your notebook — none of it answers the actual question, which is "what did we agree to last time, what's open, and what do they think the answer is?"

You walk in five minutes late, two minutes underbriefed, and the meeting reverts to a re-cap that you both already attended.

Pre-Brief is the feature that turns the prior recordings into the briefing you wish someone had handed you.

What's in a Pre-Brief

Last conversation

A two-paragraph summary of your most recent recording with this person. Specific decisions, specific quotes if they said something memorable, specific dates.

Open promises

Commitments either of you made that haven't been resolved yet. Theirs and yours. Sourced from Promise Tracker.

Anything to flag

Truth Layer contradictions involving this person. Recent topic shifts. Unresolved disagreements. A "watch out for" line if anything is worth being delicate about.

Suggested questions

Three to five concrete questions to bring to the meeting, derived from open promises and unresolved threads. Optional — turn off if you don't want the prompt.

When it shows up

Pre-Brief reads your calendar (read-only, never written to). When it sees an upcoming meeting with someone you've recorded with before, it generates the brief and delivers it through the channel you choose:

  • An iOS notification 30 minutes before the meeting (default)
  • A morning digest email at a time you set
  • A widget on your home screen showing today's meetings + their briefs
  • An Apple Watch glance if you're wearing one

If the same person is on a recurring meeting, the brief becomes incremental — only the deltas since the last time, not a re-summary of everything.

FAQ

Does Pre-Brief require calendar access?

Yes — read-only. Bonfiyah never writes to your calendar, never adds events, never invites participants. We need to see who you're meeting with so we know which prior recordings to pull from.

What if a meeting has 6 attendees?

Pre-Brief generates one section per attendee you've previously recorded with, plus a combined "shared topics" section. For large meetings (10+), it surfaces only the top three attendees by recent recording count.

Can I share a Pre-Brief with a colleague?

Yes — share via standard iOS share sheet (Markdown, PDF, or rich text). Note that Pre-Briefs may include direct quotes from recordings; you're responsible for whether sharing those is appropriate under your jurisdiction's recording laws.

Where does the inference run?

On-device. Pre-Brief uses the same on-device transformer that powers Promise Tracker and Truth Layer. Your transcripts and calendar events do not leave your phone for this feature.
