Executive summary (for embargo coverage)
Bonfiyah is an iPhone, iPad, and Mac Catalyst app for recording, transcribing, and acting on real-life conversations. It's built by a solo developer with a deliberate constraint exercise — one Apple ecosystem (iPhone-led, with iPad and Mac Catalyst), no team, no plans to grow into one. The product launches with three tiers (Free, Pro $9.99/mo, Pro AI $19.99/mo), and Pro AI ships seven AI features the rest of the category does not have: Promise Tracker, Truth Layer, Pre-Brief, People Memory, Story Mode, Speaker Themes, and structured action-item extraction.
The category context: Otter, Notta, Plaud and others occupy the meeting-bot and dedicated-hardware lanes. Bonfiyah is iPhone-native and in-person-first, with built-in two-party consent management — the only app in the category to ship that as a feature in every tier, including Free. The competitive validation point is Limitless's December 2025 acquisition by Meta; that acquisition removed the closest direct competitor and validated the always-on-conversation-recording category.
One-liner pitches by angle
- Tech / consumer angle: "Solo iOS developer ships the AI conversation app no large team has built — seven cross-recording features Otter, Notta, and Plaud don't have."
- Privacy angle: "Bonfiyah is the only iPhone recording app with built-in two-party consent management — and it doesn't train AI on user transcripts, in writing, in the privacy policy."
- Indie business angle: "$100M revenue target. Zero employees, ever. The new business model for solo iOS developers in 2026."
- Legal-vertical angle: "Built for attorneys: client intake with consent logs, witness prep with cross-recording contradiction detection, deposition review with defensible PDF exports."
- Medical / patient angle: "Patients forget 40-80% of what their doctor says. Bonfiyah captures the appointment, transcribes it on the iPhone, and surfaces the next-steps automatically."

Founder bio
Richard Hearn is the solo developer of Bonfiyah. He has been writing software professionally for over a decade and previously shipped LifeLog360, the predecessor to Bonfiyah, between 2024 and 2026. His bet on Bonfiyah is that the future of indie iOS software is one-person companies that grow revenue without growing headcount.
